Year 3

Dear Year Three Families,

As we end this academic year it is with great pride that we look back on the many achievements the students accomplished this year. They worked hard to meet the challenges experienced during remote learning and then adapted to classroom routine very quickly when they returned to school in term four.

Year three students have been focusing on poetry for literacy this term. They have looked at the structure of different types of poems and the different figurative language techniques used by poets to make poetry more interesting. They have tried to apply this to their own writing.

Our maths focus this term involved exploring measurement concepts related to volume and mass. They also had the opportunity to look at location and mapping when exploring spatial concepts. Students have thoroughly enjoyed using hands on materials to explore mass, volume and capacity where they had to use scales and containers using metric units of litre and millilitre.

The focus for integrated studies involved looking at chemical and physical science. Students enjoyed participating in various experiments where they investigated the properties of matter and explored how friction and heat transfer works.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our students for their hard work. We would also like to extend our thanks to parents and carers for their support this year. A great deal of what we do at school cannot be achieved without your help, support and cooperation.

Finally, we would like to wish all year three children the very best on their continued journey through school and beyond. Have a safe summer holiday break. We look forward to seeing you all again in the future.

Best Wishes,
Ms Cilek and Ms Gocmen
